| Game Summary (Larry Smith, NetFL Press) The football gods smiled down upon the BB franchise this weekend. A wounded team was provided the perfect elixir, DS, at an opportune time.
Because, if it had been anyone else but the offensively challenged DS, every BB player would be changing their ring tones to Taps this morning. Luckily, BB ran into an opponent with much less margin for error than themselves, or they'd no doubt be nursing the losing column with yet another embarrassing loss.
One big reason that BB can exhale today is that DS was talent-deficient enough to lose control of a game they had a chance to win. They looked so inept as they dragged a pickle during the game and convinced my cousin to join the circus - metaphorically speaking.
The score of 31-20 in front of a jeering and hostile crowd for BB was aided by a ferocious defense, but even larger was the help provided by a reeling opponent that constantly pushed the wrong personnel buttons. No wonder the inept DS have been such a welcome sight in opposing stadiums for so long. BB sure caught them on the right day.
It's doubtful that the BB defenders could have corralled a grandmother strolling across the field with the same ease as they did the DS quarterback. "Instead of him looking down the field, he was looking to see who was coming," said Deshea Townsend with 19 points on defense, a huge smile on his face. "Let's just say he got rattled a little bit."
Still, BB might not have escaped without a goto player to energize the offense - DS's very own Justin McCareins. He was relentlessly victimized, continuously torched play after play before the DS coaching staff mercifully pulled him, as he was clearly showing some ill-effects from his intestinal parasite.
"Picking on Justin McCareins was a part of the game plan," Mark Brunell with 43 points on offense said. "We should have been doing it more in the first half of the game."
How true. When a NetFL team needs a pick-me-up, they can usually count on DS to deliver. BB trails the all-time series 11-16 against DS. BB has a 8-4 regular season record (1-1 in this year's playoffs). DS has a 4-8 regular season record.
There's no love lost between these two clubs. Aaron Cook gurgled, "Let's see... something nice to say? Well, they're not the most repugnant team out there, but that's kinda like saying that Shockey isn't as annoying as that Owens clown." In response, the DS coach waxed poetic, stating, "Sheesh... just mentioning their scaly hides makes me feel very unclean. They're wretched, infantile little sewer rats and I don't want to get dragged into a discussion about them. Any other questions? I need to bathe." |
