| Game Summary (Ralph Jones, NetFL Press) "You want fries with that?" Yep, we'll be hearing that from Matt Birk in the near-future after this week's performance. After a time, I began to play a game, counting the seconds between mistakes, waiting with giddy excitement while seeing that head coach of theirs as apoplectic as a TV evangelist being audited by the IRS.
And so now it stands that DH leads the all-time series 22-3 against LLL. DH has a 9-2 regular season record. LLL has a 4-7 regular season record. The latest (what I shall laughingly call a) contest saw DH pulverizing LLL like a bloated spider engorging on the tender underbelly of a common house fly 55-41 in front of a despondent home crowd.
They looked unstoppable on the DH squad on both sides of the ball last week as they racked up a combined 354 points, 216 on offense and 138 on defense. T.J. Houshmandzadeh with 38 points on offense and Chad Greenway with 24 points on defense were the top scorers. Things were not all roses, however. Said Coach/GM Raman Ohri, "Sure, I'm a bit concerned about a few things.. For one, Travis LaBoy was as sharp as a sponge today. I've been working with Doc on a revolutionary new procedure... I won't go into the full details right now, but let's just say that he won't have an any excuse for dropping the damned ball anymore. As for those DST? They showed all the football grace of ballerinas as they filled the record book with 1 Punt returns defended, 11 Defended punt return yardage, 11 Defended punt return average, 4 Defended kickoff returns, 102 Defended kickoff return yardage, 25.5 Defended kickoff return average over the course of the contest. Overall though, the as voted on by his teammates, the most worthless player in this game was Anthony Herrera. His nasty effort yielded a resigned sigh from his teammates.
"Dem's fightin' woids!": Fuel was added to the fire during the two teams' post game news conferences. Raman Ohri considered this when he said, "I suppose every league needs a doormat. I feel some degree of scorn for them to be sure, but mostly, I just shake my head and watch them bumble their way from game to game with a sense of detached amusement." In response, the LLL coach blathered, "I'm not saying that this is true, mind you, but I'm not saying it isn't. I heard tell that that owner of theirs has been kidnapping small children and selling them on the Chinese black market. Do I respect him? Does anyone?" |
