| Game Summary (Ralph Jones, NetFL Press) If Julian Edelman's body of work exemplifies the high-point of your weekend, you know that you're on the losing end of a sordid, sick joke of a game. Words utterly fail to describe this romp into the realms of ineptitude. When Chekhov saw the long winter, he saw a winter bleak and dark and bereft of hope. Standing here in the garish, filth-ridden stands of this now-empty stadium after the game, I got to thinking - such is truly the fate of both fans of the SC squad. In the end, this team is just hopeless.
And so now it stands that SRS leads the all-time series 27-9 against SC. SRS has a 12-0 regular season record (1-0 in this year's playoffs) having just won the Conference Championship game. SC has a 6-6 regular season record (2-1 in this year's playoffs) having just lost the Conference Championship game. The latest (what I shall laughingly call a) contest saw SRS has feasted upon SC as though they were an all you can eat buffet residing next to a weight-watcher's clinic 119-2 in front of a jeering and hostile crowd.
They looked unstoppable on the SRS squad on both sides of the ball last week as they racked up a combined 521 points, 327 on offense and 194 on defense. Jamaal Charles with 67 points on offense and Eric Berry with 27 points on defense were the top scorers. Several mental breakdowns drew the coach's ire. Said Coach/GM Allen Cummings, "There were some mental breakdowns on both sides of the ball.. For one, Aaron Dobson was clearly showing some ill-effects from his intestinal parasite. Doc was tellin' me that he's seen all the telltale signs of... oh, I forget the medical term for it, but basically, he's a screw-up because he just isn't that bright when you get right down to it. Shoulda known when my scouts mentioned that he rode the short bus. As for those NT? They showed all the football grace of ballerinas as they filled the record book with 1 Assists instead of playing. Overall though, the the most incompetant player in this game was Aaron Rodgers. His wretched effort yielded little but his position coach's fury.
"Dem's fightin' woids!": Fuel was added to the fire during the two teams' post game news conferences. Allen Cummings grumbled, "I suppose every league needs a doormat. I feel some degree of scorn for them to be sure, but mostly, I just shake my head and watch them bumble their way from game to game with a sense of detached amusement." In response, the SC coach said, "That owner of theirs kinda reminds me of a Matt Millen and Michael Jackson hybrid... all bluster, melting face, questionable personal tastes... not exactly the kind of person I'd invite to my child's birthday party." |
